Wow! I truly enjoyed the world building in this fantasy adventure! There are so many captivating details and interesting characters. I especially enjoyed the twin sisters and all that entails with sibling rivalry and finding out how to be oneself and not having to be identical in every way. Every chapter builds on the previous action and leads us on a journey overland and under water. This book is well paced and the stakes keep raising throughout the book. Definitely a "gotta keep reading to see what happens next" book! Well written and imagined. Waiting for the next installment to find out what happens next!

Sandra Rose Hughes invites us to travel a magical journey with the twins, Chrissy and Julie. The twins are in Middle School; a time when pre-teens are seeking to find their own path in life. During that time, wishes and thoughts may come true. What then? This fantastical story takes us along while two sisters try to work out their relationship in a world that is not familiar and a language that has to be navigated for his nuances. It is such a fun and exciting read. At the end of every chapter, I hung on my seat wondering how the girls were going to solve this problem, and (whether or not) they would work together. I recommend this book to anyone at any age that enjoys reading about a coming-of-age story in a magical setting. Very imaginative character development. Wonderful work, Sandra Rose Hughes.

What a great, creative story! The characters of Chrissy and her twin sister Julie were really believable with their insecurities, fights, and love for each other. I loved the world Hughes creates with Orcadia and its selkies, longfins, trows, and daffas--you can tell there are layers of old stories beneath this modern tale. It's a good read for any middle-grade reader.

An imaginative and exciting middle-grade adventure! Hughes has brought the world of the selkfolk to life with realistic details and a relatable human heroine (who is so very tired of being a twin, and the less capable one at that).
